Niantic has announced that legendary pokémons Xerneas and Yveltal will be making their Pokémon GO debuts in May. Their arrival will be part of the Luminous Legends X and Y event.
According to the official notification, Xerneas, the Pokémon Life, will debut Pokémon GO from May 4, 2021 at 10 a.m. to May 18, 2021 at 10 a.m. local time. Additionally, Yveltal, the Destruction Pokémon, will debut in Pokémon GO from May 18, 2021 at 10 a.m. to June 1, 2021 at 10 a.m. local time.

As part of the events, there will be several raids which will include mega raids and 5 star raids and it will feature exclusive Pokemons throughout the month of May. Find full event details below:
5 Star Raids

Incarnate Forme Tornadus, Incarnate Forme Thundurus, and Incarnate Forme Landorus appear in five-star raids until May 4, 2021, 10 a.m. local time

Xerneas will debut from May 4, 2021 at 10 a.m. to May 18, 2021 at 10 a.m. local time

Yveltal will debut from May 18, 2021 at 10 a.m. to June 1, 2021 at 10 a.m. local time

There will be a Raid Hour event every Wednesday in May and will feature Pokémon appearing in five-star raids that week from 18-19 p.m. local time.
Mega Raids

Mega Venusaur, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Abomas will appear in Mega Raids until May 4, 2021 at 10 a.m. local time

Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard Y, and Mega Lopunny will appear in Mega Raids from May 4, 2021, 10 a.m. to May 15, 2021, 17 p.m. local time.

Mega Ampharos and Mega Houndoom, will appear from May 15, 2021 at 17 p.m. to June 1, 2021 at 10 a.m.

A surprise Mega-Evolved Pokémon will also appear in Mega Raids from May 15, 2021 through June 1, 2021.
In events, players can coordinate to catch as many Pokemons as possible. If they are able to catch 500 million fairy types by May 11, this will unlock the second half of the event which is scheduled to take place from May 11 to May 17, 2021.
