What are Garchomp's weaknesses in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl?

Of all the Pokémon in Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl, perhaps none is more feared than Garchomp. Specifically, the Garchomp that Pokémon League Champion Cynthia uses to prevent players from dethroning her. The Garchomp itself sent players back to the start of the Elite Four more than any other Pokemon on Cynthia's team.

However, players also need to know how to defeat any Garchomp, period. While the Pokémon may not appear to have any weaknesses, it certainly does in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl. Below, players can see the best way to defeat the blue dragon.

Garchomp comes from humble beginnings, evolving from Gible and Gabite. However, it transforms into one of Sinnoh's most fearsome Pokémon once it reaches its final form. If players want to take him out, they need to know his strike.

Garchomp is a Dragon- and Ground-type Pokémon in Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl. This means he is only weak to Dragon, Ice, and Fairy. Its Grass and Ground Water typing weaknesses are negated by its Dragon typing.

In Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl, Fairy types can reign supreme if they have the right moves. Of course, Ice is by far the best type to use against Garchomp in particular as it's four times effective. A Pokémon like Weavile, which evolves from Sneasel, or Mamoswine are the best options for players. Weavile is the strongest players can use, however, as he has super-fast speed and will go before Garchomp unless he is significantly under-leveled.

If players can't get their hands on an ice type, fairy moves are the next best option. A Pokémon like Gardevoir or Togekiss is the best choice for players, as they can each learn a wide variety of fairy-type moves. Additionally, if players have the free Jirachi on their team, they can teach it Dazzling Gleam, a base power 90 fairy-type move.

Finally, players can also use Dialga or Palkia against Garchomp. Their Dragon-type signature moves are very effective, and they can also take a hit or two from Garchomp's diverse move pool.

As long as players don't launch Electric, Fire, Poison, Steel, or Rock-type Pokémon against Garchomp, they will be able to survive the fight with enough strategy.
