How to Catch Porygon in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl

How to Catch Porygon in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling PearlOne of the most unique Pokémon in the entire franchise is Porygon. A computer-generated Pokémon, Porygon was never easily caught by simply snaking through patches of grass in the wild. Instead, players need to get a little more creative when trying to catch Porygon.

The same is true in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl, as Porygon has a random chance to appear at a specific location in Sinnoh. This random chance may take some time, but players should know how to check if Porygon is available to be caught. Below they can find out exactly how to do it.

To catch Porygon, you'll first need to beat the Pokémon Sparkle Diamond and Sparkle Pearl main story and acquire the National Dex. You can acquire the National Dex by seeing all 150 Sinnoh Dex Pokemon and talking to Professor Rowan in Sandgem Town.

With the National Dex you can try to catch Porygon. To do this, you will need to go to the Trophy Garden, located on Route 212.

Enter the Pokemon Mansion and talk to Mr. Backlot inside. It will tell you that a particular Pokémon is breeding in the trophy garden in the backyard. The man will tell you about a new Pokemon every day.

If you're lucky, Mr. Backlot will tell you that Porygon is spawning in the Trophy Garden. When he says that, you can go back, walk around in the grass and wait for a Porygon to appear. You can then grab it and add it to your party.

If you want to evolve Porygon, you will first need to find the upgrade item and give it to Porygon to keep. You will then need to trade Porygon, in which case it will evolve into Porygon2.

To trigger the second evolution, you will need to find the Questionable Disc item and give it to Porygon2. Again, you will need to swap out Porygon2 to trigger evolution to Porygon Z.

That's all of Porygon's evolutions and how to catch its original form in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl.
