Call of Duty League 2022 preview: format, rosters, PTW, and more

The new calendar year is right around the corner and there's plenty to get excited about in 2022, especially if you're a fan of the Call of Duty franchise as the game's most important tournament will have its third edition.

The Call of Duty League has been a refreshing distraction from everything going on with a great first season in 2020 with Dallas Empire crowning Atlanta FaZe is a very lopsided series that ended 5-1 in favor of the team based in Texas.

Last year, FaZe came all the way to win the title with back-to-back Finals appearances, which begs the obvious question: who will stop Atlanta from reaching their third consecutive Call of Duty League Finals in 2022.

The format will change in Call of Duty League 2022

If there's one team that's been consistent in the regular season, it's the one led by aBeZy as they won the top seed in both tournaments, although that doesn't guarantee any advantage this time around.

Once again, the tournament format will be changed to provide a better experience for the public. This time, no team will enjoy a bye round in the playoffs, as the eight teams that reach the finals will play each round in the playoffs.

For the first time in the history of the tournament, we will be changing the hosting edition as previous tournaments were played in COD Black Ops Cold War while this one will be played in the newly released Vanguard with the Hardpoint, Search and Destroy and Control as game modes for each match.

As you may have already noticed, there's a lot going on in the upcoming Call of Duty League season, but if this is going to be your first rodeo, you need to follow a few players to get the best. of this experience.

This section would be empty without aBe of Atlanta FaZe, as the current champion is the face of the franchise and the league and given his age, he should be the man to beat for at least a few more years.

Of course, we have his former nemesis and Season 1 Champion, Shotzzy, now part of the merger between the old teams and the birth of OpTic Texas.

Another former champion will play for the second straight season with the New York Subliners as Clay will lead the Manhattan-based team.

The first major will be hosted by Optic Texas

One of the first details we know is that the launch tournament and the first major tournament will be held in Texas, as different teams will host each of the four major tournaments throughout the season.

OpTic Texas will host the first of these while the rest of the teams and host cities will be released at later dates.

We only have about a month to go until kick off as the league officially begins the first week of February and we'll keep you posted so you can enjoy the third season of the Call of Duty League in 2022.
