There are a plethora of other mythical Pokemon that can be caught in Sinnoh's remakes. From Mew and Jirachi to Manaphy, players are sporting more Mythical Pokemon in their party than ever before. Darkrai's moon duo Cresselia is also catchable in-game, so players have been wondering where Darkrai can be caught to complete the matchup.
Below, players can see the answer to the Darkrai question in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl.
Catch Darkrai in Pokemon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl
The short answer to the question is no, Darkrai cannot currently be caught in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl. It's unclear why the developers made Cresselia an encounter but not the other half of the Lunar Duo. If you see someone with a Darkrai in their party, they likely have a jailbroken Nintendo Switch console and received the Pokemon through that method.
For all legitimate purposes, however, Darkrai is not accessible in games. However, it seems likely that the developers will release the Mythical Dark-type Pokémon in the future via a Mystery Giveaway event. The same thing happened in the original 2007 games, so players can expect the same thing to happen this time around.
Darkrai could be caught if players held the mystery gift system membership card and entered Newmoon Island. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
