How to Get Beldum/Metagross in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl

The number of Pokémon that can be caught in Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl is somewhat overwhelming. The Pokémon available to catch aren't limited to the standard Sinnoh Pokédex, as places like the Great Underground contain many mons to catch that aren't added to the Pokédex until post-game.

One of the Pokemon included on this list is the Beldum line, which ends with the popular pseudo-legendary Metagross. The Psychic and Steel type is a formidable force for players who haven't taken advantage of the free Jirachi in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl.

However, players must first know how to catch Beldum if they want to add Metagross to their team.

As with most other rare Pokémon in Sinnoh, you'll need to have beaten the main story and Elite Four of Pokémon Sparkling Diamond or Sparkling Pearl. Next, you need to acquire Professor Rowan/Oak's National Dex once you've seen Sinnoh's 151 Pokémon.

This will unlock a number of exclusive Pokemon in new areas. However, some Pokémon are also added to certain Grand Underground caves once you have the Nationall Dex. This is the case of Beldum.

In order to catch the one-eyed mon, you'll want to go underground and find one of the following caves:

    • Big Bluff Cavern
    • Whiteout Cave
    • rock cave
    • ice cave
    • glacial cave

All of these caves in the Great Underground have a chance of spawning Beldum. If it doesn't spawn for you on your first trip to one of the caves, simply exit, then re-enter the cave to revive the Pokemon that spawns inside the area.

If the Grand Underground isn't for you, you can also try looking for Beldum on Route 228 in the grass.

After catching Beldum, you can evolve it into Metang at level 20 and Metagross at level 45. None of Beldum's evolutions appear anywhere else in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl, so your only hope is to find Beldum and train him.
