How to Catch the Rainbow Deer in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

How to Catch the Rainbow Deer in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The Rainbow Deer is a bug type available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You can only catch during specific times of the year, and this varies depending on your location. For those who live in the northern hemisphere, can catch it from June to September. If you live in the southern hemisphere, you can only catch it from December to March.

Once you know the time of year to catch it, narrowing down the time it appears is essential. You can only find a Rainbow Deer from 20:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., which means you need to visit your island during the following hours if you want to try and encounter this bug.

You won't find this wandering insect on the ground or on the petals of your favorite flowers. You can only see it resting on the trunk of one of the trees on your island. You can chop down any tree on your island and make a tree stump to increase the chance of a Rainbow Deer spawning. You can also come across tree trunks on Mystery Tours, which you can purchase from the Nook Miles vendor.

Catching the rainbow deer is the same for any other bug. All you have to do is have your bug net equipped and ready to go, catch it before it flies away. Be sure to bring it to Blathers at the museum if it's brand new to you. If not, feel free to place it somewhere on your island for decoration, or sell it to Timmy and Tommy at Nook's Cranny for 10 Bells or to Flick for 000 Bells.
