How to chop down a tree in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

How to chop down a tree in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

As you build your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, you're going to run into some issues. One of these problems are the trees. They look lovely and give beautiful fruit, but after a while some of them will only get in the way.

The solution is to cut them or move them. To chop down a tree, you'll need an axe, and that flimsy ax you get at the start of the game won't cut it.

There are actually three levels of ax in the game. The Flimsy Axe, Stone Axe, and Axe. The ax will chop down a tree in three hits, but the flimsy ax and stone ax won't chop down a tree at all. You should use them when you just want to harvest wood, but leave the tree intact.

You can build the ax using a flimsy axe, three pieces of wood, and an iron nugget. When you chop down a tree, you end up with a stump. You can just dig that up with a shovel and then fill in the hole.

One important thing to remember is that when you place a new tent or building, the trees it covers will automatically be removed, so you can also cut them down and get the wood before they disappear.
