Of course, that changes when players get to the Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl post-game. The Pokédex opens up dramatically, allowing players to catch more Pokémon than ever before. One Pokemon some players might be looking for is Phanpy, a Generation II mon that evolves into a powerful Ground-type.
Below, players can find out exactly where to find Phanpy in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl.
Catching Phanpy in Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl
To get started, you'll need to have beaten the Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl main story and acquired the National Dex. You can acquire the upgraded version of the Pokédex from Professor Rowan after seeing all 150 Pokémon in the Sinnoh Dex.
Once you have the National Dex, you must go to the Grand Underground and find one of the following caves: Rocky Cave or Big Bluff Cavern. These are the only caves where you can find Phanpy spawning in the Great Underground.
If you enter the cave and don't see Phanpy wandering around, exit the cave and re-enter to reset the spawns. Do this until you find Phanpy walking, at which point you can bump into him and attempt to grab him.
After catching Phanpy, you can evolve into the mighty Donphan. The Phanpy you find will be 473ur of level 61, so you only need to level it up once to trigger the evolution to Donphan.
