How to quickly farm fossils in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

How to quickly farm fossils in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

One of the resources you'll want to get as soon as possible in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is fossils. These can be donated to the museum, or you can have them identified there, and use them as decorations or sell them to Nooks for lots of Bells.

You need to make 15 donations to the museum to help it run. These don't all have to be fossils, but you'll need to give them plenty of fossils to get full displays later in the game.

As you run around the island, keep an eye on the ground. If you see a crack, get out your shovel and dig, and you're sure to find a fossil. Four fossils will spawn each day, but if you want you can speed this up a bit by visiting Mystery Islands.

You can travel to the Mystery Islands by redeeming Nook Miles at the Resident Services kiosk in exchange for a Nook Miles ticket. Bring the ticket to the airport, select "I want to fly", then tell them you want to use the ticket and you will be taken to an island where you can get lots of resources. It's a new randomly generated island every time, so don't leave anything behind.

On these islands you can also find fossils, and if you visit multiple islands in one day (if you have enough Nook Miles) you can really increase the number of fossils you can find.

If you found this guide helpful, we have other guides you might also be interested in. From whether you can move Resident Services, how to get more residents, the maximum number of residents you can have on your island, and how to get your hands on those pesky floating balloon gifts.
