How to Find and Capture an Atlas Butterfly in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

How to Find and Capture an Atlas Butterfly in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

A new month Animal Crossing: New Horizons brings with it a bunch of new fish and bugs to add to your collection as you try to complete the museum, but some are harder to find than others.

One of those you might have trouble with is the Atlus Butterfly, a large and rare spawn in New Horizons that players will only encounter occasionally.

Not only is it hard to find, but also hard to catch. The slightest movement will cause it to fly away, and then you'll have to pray to the RNG gods for it to reappear.

So how exactly do you find and capture one of them?

Atlas moths only spawn late, between 19 p.m. and 4 a.m., and are usually found clinging to pine or palm trees.

They are available between April and September in the Northern Hemisphere islands and it will take time to find one. They are apparently harder to find in April and a little easier to find as the months go by.

When you encounter one, pull out your net and hold A, approaching the butterfly as slowly as possible as it moves. When it stops moving, you stop, and as soon as you get close enough to it, go for the grab and release your A button.

It is then up to you to do what you want with it.
