Genshin Impact Tartaglia (Kid): Best Build, Weapons, Artifacts, Tips & More

Tartaglia aka Childe has been a…let's say difficult for the community to understand. His Riptide passive alone has six different effects, and his ability to switch between ranged and melee leaves him with a steep learning curve.

Luckily, we have some tips for really getting Childe into the S-tier of Genshin characters.

Arms

First on file is what weapon you want to equip Tartaglia with.

Rust has enjoyed wide community approval on Tartaglia. The base ATK scaling and a weapon skill that meshes incredibly well with his melee form make him a favorite.

Another great option is The Stringless. Elemental Mastery is good on Childe as his melee attacks are all Hydro based, and Arrowless Song applies to both his Elemental Skill and Burst (Riptide damage is nasty).

A final nod must go to the Raven Bow. If you didn't make it as The Stringless or Rust, this 3* arc will still do the trick. Base ATK and Elemental Mastery are still good, and the weapon skill is easy to activate with Childe's Elemental Skill.

Artifacts

There were a number of 473ur floating choices: Noblesse Obligate is great if you want to run Childe as a burst save on your main DPS, and a 2/2 Gladiator's Final et Player wetsuit also works as a budget option.

However, our recommendation is to use 4 pieces Troop of wanderers. YouTuber Zy0x succinctly and consistently shows why around 400 crits in Abyss with said artifact build… at Constellation 000, no less.

Part of the reason this works is that Wander's Troupe 4 piece effect triggers even when Childe is in scrum position. It already does impressive DPS just by abusing Riptide procs on charged bow attacks, but using melee charged attacks with enhanced elemental mastery and +35% charged attack DMG from Wanderer's Troupe will tear enemies apart . Your game pattern is probably applying Riptide, switch to melee, then normal 473matic to charged 473matic and repeat.

It's worth noting that Zy0x is actually using Noblesse Oblige 2 pieces for his really monster crits (the +20% Burst DMG is great), so consider this a more than viable option as previously stated.

Artifact Stat Priorities

This brings us to the stats you want to look for on your artifacts.

Main statistics:

  • ATK% Sands of Eon

  • Hydro DMG Tumbler% (key)

  • CRIT% Tiara

  • ATK% and CRIT% in general

Secondary statistics (in order of priority):

  1. CRIT%

  2. CRIT DMG

  3. ATQ and elementary mastery

Childe's ATK scaling is… insane. At level 7 Havoc: Obliteration (Child's Elemental Burst) inflicts 696% Melee DMG plus 180% Riptide Blast DMG if that was also applied. Compare that to Diluc's Elemental Burst scaling to the same level (around 300~%) and you can see Tartaglia's potential.

That's why your main goals are to increase Childe's ATK stats and the rate at which he crits. Landing crit on an elemental burst with 800-900~% scaling is potential one-hit Elite Boss, and good attack scaling on 473s too courtesy of Riptide does de Childe a true powerhouse…

Base Game Models

…if you can use it.

Tartaglia, especially without Constellations, is difficult to use. Your variable melee transformation cooldown (going up to 45 seconds if you expire and don't manually transform back into range) can really make Childe a headache. Fitting, lore-wise.

There are two main schools of thought: one), stay in range as much as possible, then go melee kills once your Elemental Burst is charged, or two), just stay in melee for as long as possible relying on the Riptide damage amplified on melee 473s, only returning ranged at the very end of the duration to avoid hyper-extended CD.

However, one thing is generally universal: use his Elemental Burst in melee when possible. It's just more…everything – DPS, CC, adds Riptide damage, you name it. Everything except the scope, quite shocking.

With that covered, that's almost all it takes to get Childe up and running. If you can handle Tartaglia's E CD well, the Abyss will be your oyster. If you can't? Well, there's always a lucky reviewer for Elemental Burst...
