Euro Truck Simulator 2 allows through the base game and several DLC to travel to the heart of all of Europe. However many players regret the fact that there is no official multiplayer mode. Nevertheless, a community of players has succeeded, thanks to mods replacing all non-player characters with real players, to meet this expectation.
First, you need to own the Euro truck Simulator 2 game on Steam. Indeed the mod is not compatible with pirated versions since the mod launcher launches the game via the Valve platform. Once you have the game in your possession, you must go to the mod's community site.
Create an account on this site by following the instructions, a Steam connection will be requested to verify the purchase of the game. Once registered, you will be able to download the launcher. This will be in the arrival folder of your downloads under the name launcher_XXXX.zip (XXXX represents the version number of the launcher). This compressed folder contains an application called "Install TruckersMP", launch it.
This window will appear once you have clicked once on “Next”, selected “I accept the agreement” and then again on “Next”.
The mod will install by default in the displayed folder if you wish to change it click on "Browse.." and select your folder (note that you need at least 1MB of available space) once the folder is chosen, click "Next".
By default the "full installation" option will be selected, you will have to click on the drop-down menu to select custom and just check as shown in the screenshot. Once done click “Next”.
Select your Steam folder by clicking "Browse" and follow the folder path shown in the screenshot.
This window is used to configure in which folder of the "Start" menu the launcher shortcut will be installed. Here, unless there is a particular need, you just have to click on "Next", otherwise you can always use the "Browse" button.
The option in front of you lets you decide if you want a shortcut on your desktop. By default the option "Create a desktop icon" is checked, if you do not wish to have this icon uncheck the option. Once you have made your choice, click on “Next” again.
Once you reach this screen you can check the settings you have chosen before clicking on "Install" which will start the installation process.
Once the installation process is complete, the “Next” option which was grayed out until then will become clickable (symbolized by a blue box), click on it, then on the new screen press “Finish”. This screen should then appear:
Unlike the capture on the right, you will have a gray column with one or more options already checked, among which there is obviously the multiplayer option (in English you will find the term "Multiplayer") which must obviously be selected. You will also sometimes find some options which are generally graphic options such as a "Winter Mod" which adds snow to the game's scenery and replaces rain with snow.
For these options you can leave them checked or unchecked as you wish. Once you have made your selection, you will have a button at the bottom of this column with the term "update", click on it, then wait for the green bar to finish filling up. Once done, the "Launch ETS 2" option will be available and you will have access to the game in multiplayer.
Note that it is advisable to lancer Steam before launching the game via the launcher in order to be able to authorize the launch of the game on Steam using the launcher (a small steam window should appear in front of you). In addition you will need the truckers MP account you created to connect to the mod servers. Once this connection page passed all the roads of Europe will be opened to you and all the players present. However there may sometimes be a latency between the release of a DLC and the update of the mod so it may be that for a certain period some of your DLC is not usable in multiplayer.
