One item that has tripped up players, however, is the Deep Sea Tooth. This item has two uses in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl. The first is to increase the Sp. Atk stat while the second is to evolve Clamperl into Huntail after being swapped while holding it. This means that if players want to train a Clamper from scratch and eventually turn it into a Huntail, they will need a Jaw of the Deep Sea.
Finding the Tooth of the Deep in Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl
Clamperl can evolve into two different Pokemon, Gorebyss and Huntail. The evolution of Gorebyss is similar to that of Huntail but instead requires the scale of the deep sea.
If you want a Huntail, however, you need the Deep Sea Jaw, which can be found in two distinct ways. The first is to catch three different wild Pokémon: Caravanha, Sharpedo, and Huntail. Huntail can be caught directly, so if players need it for their Pokédex, they can simply catch the Huntail in the wild. However, if players want to train their own EV Clamper, then they can see if any of these three Pokémon hold a Deep Sea Jaw.
There's a 5% chance that these Pokémon will hold the item after you catch them, which isn't a great chance. For a better chance of finding the tooth, you can head to the Great Underground and search the caves in the southwest area. Inside these caves, there is a small chance that a Poké Ball will spawn on the ground, which may contain the Deep Sea Jaw.
There's no guaranteed way to acquire the item, but these are the only two ways to acquire a Deep Sea Tooth in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl.
