Maya Empire Ideal Victory Type

With less expensive and rather powerful Campuses, Lady Six Heavens will be above all a mistress of the scientific victory, able to get ahead of his opponents very early in the game and benefit from the unique adjacency bonuses of his Observatory. In this regard, it should be able to compete with civilizations such as Korea or Scotland for example.

The Mayan Empire also offers opportunities to use its early game science boost to quickly seek a technological edge over its neighbors and attack them with units from a more advanced era. The military victory will be difficult, however, as cities far from the capital will be weaker. However, it does not really benefit from other types of victory.

Unique district of the Maya Empire: Observatory

L'Observatoire replace the Campus, and his production cost is half as much. He enjoys a +2 science bonus for each adjacent planting, as well as +1 for all two adjacent farm or neighborhood spaces. Unlike on campus, it does no adjacency bonus our geothermal faults, to mountains or reefs.

In order to make Observatories more effective, track down the different resources on which you can put plantations (Bananas, Citrus, Cocoa, Coffee, Cotton, Tinctures, Incense, Olives, Silk, Spices, Sugar, Tea, Tobacco and Vines). It is also interesting to build farms around, these being particularly essential to the Maya Empire.

Civilization 6: Lady Six Heavens Guide, Introducing the Mayan Empire

Try to find places between two Plantations to have excellent Observatories very easily.

Since the production cost of the Observatory is very low, it is interesting to build them very early in the game and in all your cities in order to directly get ahead of your opponents in science. Try to position them so that you can build some of the wonders most interesting: large library and Oxford University. They require a flat land adjacent to an Observatory.

Unique feature of the Maya Empire: Mayab

The installation next to the boxeseau douce et coastal does not grant no additional dwellings, but each farm grants +1,5 Dwellings and +1 Gold. +1 Activities for each luxury resort adjacent to downtown.

With this characteristic, Lady Six Heavens will have to place her cities in a unique way, since she has no interest in positioning them on rivers, lakes or coasts. However, they will always start with only 2 houses, but earn a lot through the farms. It will therefore be very important to build Builders early in the game, and each time you place a new city

Civilization 6: Lady Six Heavens Guide, Introducing the Mayan Empire

Ideally, you will want to try to build diamonds of 4 farms, in order to have big adjacency bonuses between them and +6 dwellings in total.

It will also be interesting to try to land your cities on interesting terrain (hills at 2 Production, or adjacent to luxury resources for activity). L'City water is a very important district for the Mayas since it will always give +4 dwellings, while the Attic is also a very useful building. Finally, the ancestral hall will be interesting in your Place of governance for the Free builder in each new city.

Maya Empire Unique Feature: Ix Mutal Ahaw

Yields towns within a radius of less than 6 spaces from the capital +10%. Yields of other cities -15%. Combat Power +5 for units in a radius of less than 6 squares from the capital.

With this unique feature, Lady Six Heavens will generally want a very compact empire, with cities as close to each other as possible so that they all benefit from the +10% boost to yields. However, it is possible to build up to 13 cities in total (including the capital) if you position them perfectly. In the majority of games, you can easily have 7-8 who take advantage of the bonus without difficulty.

If you follow this pattern, you can have up to 13 towns within 6 squares of the capital, while respecting the minimum distance of 4 squares between two towns. (Source: Malm34)

Le battle bonuses units within 6 squares of the capital allows the Mayan Empire to defend quite effectively against invaders, especially with his unique unit. If you make a city close to the borders of another civilization, always try to have your units in the zone where they receive the bonus.

Mayan Empire unique unit: Hul-Che (replaces Archer)

Le Hul'Che is an Antiquity unit exclusive to the Maya replacing the Archer, With the same cost in production, gold and maintenance, but one 28 ranged combat bonus (+3 compared to the 25 of the archer). It also +5 ranged combat bonus against wounded units.

Civilization 6: Lady Six Heavens Guide, Introducing the Mayan Empire

The Hul'Che is fantastic in defense against warlike civilizations. If he is within 6 squares of your capital to benefit from the +5 combat bonus, and he attacks a wounded unit to recover an additional +5, he attacks at 38 strengthEither only 2 less than a Crossbowman. If you manage to level them up, it will be almost impossible to invade you.

If you manage to get several Hul'Che quickly, and with a illustrious general, you can also attack with them, although they have attack penalty (-17) against cities and risk losing the +5 of Ix Mutal Ahaw.
