Do you like the world of pirates and have just bought ATLAS but you have never played a survival game before? Do not be afraid ! We have prepared a beginner's guide for you to quickly get started with the game and thus master your first minutes on the pirate MMO.

Introduction to the guide

First of all, it should be noted that the game is still in the Early Access phase and it is likely that elements discussed here will evolve over time. However, our guide should allow you to easily understand the mechanics of ATLAS. Also note that the game is entirely in English for the moment, which is why we have opted to keep the important elements in this language in order to facilitate the understanding of the guide and its use.

Your character's basic information

These are permanently displayed on your screen and present several pieces of information:

→ The level of vitamins : The orange bar corresponds to the fruits, the green is linked to the vegetables, in blue the fish and finally the proteins in purple.

→ Load : the weight of your inventory, you will be limited in your capacity to carry objects (it will in particular make you increase your stats in Weight to carry more objects).

→ Hydration : In connection with the Water value, indicates your water needs. Be careful to drink plenty of unsalted water and avoid staying too long in the sun.

→ hungry : The hunger indicator, again linked to the Food value. If your character is hungry, he will eventually lose hit points.

→ Stamina : Your stamina bar, related to energy to spend on specific activities, like sprinting.

→ Heath Points : Your life points, which will decrease if the other indicators are not well maintained or if you get injured/shocked.

Keep an eye on all his values there, especially in the beginning. Your first minutes of play will be dictated by the need to support yourself for the rest of your adventure.

Understanding Your Character's Stat Sheet

Your character has 8 values that impact your abilities. These will evolve naturally with the progression of your character but also via your equipment.

→ Food : More or less concerns your appetite and your ability to limit your meals. One of the worst stats since you only need to have food in your bags to limit the effect.

→ Fortitude : Increases your resistance, especially in combat. Useful whatever your style of play.

→ Health : Your level of health, impacts your hit points, which makes it one of your main stats whatever your style of play.

→ Intelligence : Improves your ability to craft items. Useful in a lot of cases, especially if you like crafting.

→ Oxygen : A situational value that can be valuable if you specialize in finding treasure and other underwater resources.

→ Stamina : Endurance is already less interesting since it will also depend on your way of playing. It is therefore more situational than anything else.

→ Water : Intervenes on the hydration of your character, not very useful but already more than Food.

→ Weight : Increases your ability to carry items (Load) in your inventory. Moderately useful, but not to be neglected during your adventure.

It is therefore important to maximize the values that seem most important to you in relation to your style of play but also your teammates if you are playing with several people. In any case, you can change them during the game. Your choices are therefore not final.

The talent tree

Talents are extremely large and varied on ATLAS, something that should surprise players a little at first since the talent tree is really massive. To sum up, you will find both the part related to crafting (and the different recipes and patterns needed to craft weapons and objects) and elements related to combat or navigation.

The point to remember is that you can always change your talents (just like your character's stats) so don't worry too much about your choices and don't hesitate to test different specializations.

Which talents to choose at the beginning?

We advise you to place points in the Survival part with in particular: The Basics, Tools of the Trade et Construction in order to be able to craft the basic items of the adventure. Afterwards, you will be able to choose between ranged combat (Archery) or hand-to-hand combat (Hand to Hand Combat) as well as develop the craft via Advanced tools.

Important talents to take:

→ Basic Water Swimming (in case of falling from a raft…)

→ Shipwright Skill (in the Seamanship part) in order to be able to own a boat

What to do at the start of your adventure?

As soon as you arrive on the island, quickly leave the place where you are (normally a small town) in order to recover resources in the wild. Your objective is to accumulate resources in order to be able to craft objects and thus develop your character.

You will need fabric (Fibers), stone (Stone) and wood (Wood) to craft tools and weapons.

So perform the following steps:

→ Leave the urban area and head into nature (the area must be wooded but not dangerous)

→ Collect plants, wood, by examining the surroundings

→ If you spend a few minutes collecting resources, you will level up

→ You can also kill a small animal in order to gain your first level

→ With this level, unlock The Basics talent in the talent tree so you can craft basic items

→ Try to craft the following items: the Stone Pick, the Stone Hatchet (to chop wood), a Spear (spear to defend yourself) as well as basic armor (Cloth Armor) to use as clothing

→ Remember to light a fire to warm up and protect yourself at night

Warning, your items have a durability gauge, which means they can (and will) break very quickly, especially at first. Prefer to repair (repair) your broken objects rather than making new ones since this operation costs less resources.

After performing these operations, you are now autonomous on ATLAS and you can move around the island to explore it. The next step will be none other than leaving your place of arrival to discover the gigantic universe (see our game map) of this pirate MMO.
