Animal Crossing: New Horizons TV ad looks at how other players can visit an island

Although Animal Crossing: New Horizons is still a month away, Nintendo has already started following up on the highly anticipated follow-up with a new TV commercial.

As part of the Nintendo Switch My Way campaign, which shows ordinary people enjoying the company's not-so-ordinary games lineup, the ad shows a glimpse of what's to come. It's below, and here's a quick rundown of what's featured.

It centers on a mother who enjoys playing the game on her Switch Lite. We get a quick overview of the inventory system, which lets you pick, place, and drop items with relative ease. There's also a look at the gameplay, with his created character capturing a butterfly with a net.

His daughter then comes home and decides to join in the game. Here we see how a player can visit another island, which is sure to be a popular feature. As previously stated, up to eight players can visit an island via local wireless or online play, while New Horizons also supports up to four people playing on the same console.

While the ad is fun and points to some of the game's enjoyable features, there is one that players will want to note. According to the Australian webpage for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, "Only one island can exist per Nintendo Switch console, regardless of the number of registered user accounts or copies of the game used on a console." Keep this in mind if multiple players want to play the same system.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons arrives March 20 for Nintendo Switch. Those without a system yet might want to look into the limited-edition Animal Crossing console debuting a week earlier on March 13.
